MSP Gets a 3rd Bishop

The pro cathedral of Our Lady Queen Nigeria was filled to its maximum capacity on February 2, 2012 as people gathered for the ordination of Bishop Anselm Umoren, MSP. It was a joyous moment as the clergy, the religious and the lay faithful of the catholic archdiocese of Abuja, missionaries and associate missionaries of St Paul and friends from different parts of the country sang, and moved their bodies to the melodious tunes of jubilation in praise of God.

Bishop Anselm Umoren was named the Auxiliary bishop of the catholic archdiocese of Abuja, Nigeria by Pope Benedict XV on November 8, 2011. With his ordination, the missionaries of St Paul now have three bishops chosen from among them to join the Nigerian church hierarchy. We thank God for these blessings and continue to pray for God’s blessings on all our missionaries and the success of our all missionary work.

Below are some of the pictures at the occasion.

About MSP

The Missionary Society of St Paul began as an idea in the mind of its founder, Dominic Cardinal Ekandem. He first conceived the idea in 1950, but it took about 27 years for it to mature and see the light of day.
