Fr Linus Egbeji Goes Home

With deep sorrow, the Acting superior General, Very Rev. Fr Ofoha breaks the shocking news of the death of our brother, Fr. Linus Egbeji, MSP. He died in a motor accident around 11 pm on the 24th of February, 2012 while on his way back home from attending university lectures. Fr. Egbeji died in Cameroon where he has been on mission since 2004. He was, till his death, the Superior of that mission.

Linus Abang Egbeji was born on 20th November, 1971. He became a permanent member of the Missionary Society of St. Paul on 14th December, 2002 and was ordained a priest on 28th June, 2003. After his initial missionary assignment (pastoral year) to the Archdiocese of Abuja 2003-2004, he was subsequently sent on mission to Cameroon in 2004. He spent all the rest of his priestly and missionary life in Cameroon. Fr. Egbeji is a native of Mbube in Ogoja LGA (Ogoja Diocese). He will always be remembered as a very dedicated and diligent missionary, and will be painfully missed by all.

Fr. Egbeji's funeral (which will take place in Cameroon), has been fixed for Wednesday March 14, 2012. The vigil will be on Tuesday March 13, at St Joseph's parish where he worked till his death. Let us remember to offer many Masses, for the happy repose of Fr. Linus Egbeji, MSP. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace - Amen
